The Enhanced Access (EA) provide same day and pre booked routine appointments, Monday–Saturday (excluding Bank Holidays) to patients registered and temporarily registered with a Bexley GP. Services offered across the Bexley are Monday to Friday from 18.30-20.00 hours and on Saturdays 09.00-17.00 hours.

 

Aims

To provide the Bexley registered GP population with same day and routine general practice appointments delivered through a network of primary care access Practices and hubs. Capacity within the Enhanced Access service is to be distributed amongst Bexley practices in an equitable way and in a way that meets the needs of the practices booking their patients in to the service.

 

1. To provide access to an appropriately qualified GP and a range of MDT staff to manage planned and unplanned care.

2. To provide holistic care and support with onward referrals and management of diagnostics (as per clinical pathways) including 2 week wait urgent referrals, imaging and specialist referrals, where clinically required.

3. To ensure services are open in accordance with the stipulated hours (see Days / Hours of Operation)

 

Service Outcomes

 

The Service aims to provide the following outcomes:

• Access to general / clinical practice 6 days a week

• An increase in same day appointments for the GP registered population at local PCN level.

• More patients consultations offered in an appropriate setting of care

• Improved appointment utilisation for general practice referrals
